The successful candidate will work within a specialist Pharmacy team, alongside Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Consultants and the wider Trust clinical teams, to lead the Trust's antimicrobial stewardship program, including OPAT.  Regional/national collaboration and clinical research is encouraged.  HHFT has a strong digital program that supports antimicrobial stewardship – including EPMA and electronic patient records.

You will need:

  • Clinical knowledge & understanding of antimicrobial stewardship
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills, to be used in support of multi-disciplinary teams

What we Offer:

  •  Support for training and development of skills across the four
pillars of clinical practice, leadership, education and research
  • Your life outside HHFT is important and the Trust are happy to consider applications for flexible working patterns: to be discussed at interview

Main duties of the job

  • Lead Pharmacist in antimicrobial stewardship - working as/towards non-medical prescribing in the speciality. Role includes teaching, training, audit and research.
  • Day to day clinical management of patients, within speciality, with regard to medicines optimisation.
  • To lead, develop, deliver and evaluate the clinical pharmacy service for antimicrobial stewardship.
  • To provide regular drug usage/expenditure reports, including opportunities for cost improvement (CIP) for the clinical speciality.
  • To ensure the effective management and development of staff, including line management, mentoring and supervision.

Working for our organisation

Who we are:

Antimicrobial Stewardship at HHFT is supported by consultants in microbiology and infectious diseases, infection control nurses, antimicrobial pharmacists and a pharmacy technician who work closely together to ensure appropriate antimicrobial use and to prevent resistance and healthcare-associated infections.  You will also work closely with the friendly & supportive clinical pharmacy team.
