This role is only open to applicants that currently work within an NHS Trust within the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIOW ICS).
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to work in a busy clinical team with a passion for rota management and working with a mix of different professions. You will be supported by peers across the division to grow and develop, ensuring you are able to thrive in this operational role.
The Critical Care Rota and Service Lead is responsible for the construction of the Critical Care rota on the Basingstoke and Winchester sites including covering rota gaps, doctor leave management, and also providing a first point of contact for the doctors.
The role involves design, review and construction of the critical care rotas which are intricate and complex. The successful applicant will also be expected to support the Operational Service Manager for critical care in service development, workforce planning, customer care and administration of the critical care units. The post holder will be expected to use their own initiative in all areas and will be responsible for the management of the critical care equipment technician.
This role will require the applicant to work on both sites – Winchester and Basingstoke.

- You will be responsible for the following duties as part of a busy clinical and non-clinical team. Your duties will be to:
- To develop and manage the junior doctor and ACCP critical care rota, working with the OSM and Clinical Lead to ensure all lists are adequately staffed and locums are booked when required, in line with Trust Policies and Procedures
- To liaise with medical staffing ahead of junior doctor rotations to understand who is joining each rotation.
- To complete individual work schedules for each junior doctor in DRS and send to medical staffing in appropriate timeframes.
- To be able to problem solve on the critical care rotas across both sites in the events of leave/sickness and assist with ensuring safe staffing levels are maintained.
- To record and monitor annual leave, study leave and sickness absences for the consultants, staff grade and trainee doctors,.
- To manage and prioritise own workload and be able to work independently.
- To arrange and attend departmental meetings as requested, circulate agendas, taking action notes and providing on-site support for IT where possible.
- To provide regular statistics and reporting for internal and external meetings and networks.
- To support the critical care team with operational issues when the Critical Care Operational Service Manager is on leave
- To provide support to improve customer experience, for example answering complaints and learning from them
