Induction of Labour Quality Improvement Midwife
Fixed Term - 6 Months

The post holder will be a champion for improvements within the induction of labour process and the expectation is that the post holder will be responsible for promoting good quality midwifery/ obstetric led interventions which aim to reduce delays and improves patient satisfaction.
Main duties of the job
- Lead on a quality improvement (QI) initiative aimed at piloting the introduction of oral misoprostol for induction of labour and understanding women’s experience of its use.
- Design, complete and report on the project using recognised QI tools and methodologies.
- Create a new guideline/SOP to describe and support the safe use of misoprostol during the induction of labour process.
- Organise and provide resources and sessions for staff training.
- Ensure that service users are included in the co-production of the induction service, and patient information, so that they can confidently make choices about their care.
- Evaluate patient experience of induction of labour by use of the feedback tools
- Feedback to the Maternity Transformation group/Induction of Labour steering group and the LMNS Quality and Performance committee about project progress monthly.
- · Work collaboratively with the Maternity Senior Leadership team and the wider MDT to ensure that safe care and excellent patient experience is at the heart of the induction service.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Registered midwife
- • Clinical experience relevant to the post
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of education at a masters level or equivalent in a relevant subject
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Training in QI tools and methodologies (e.g. Silver level QI training or equivalent)
- • Experience of conducting quality improvement project
- • Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of developing and implementing systems to improve clinical outcomes, performance and efficiency.
Skills
Essential criteria
- • Supervisor/Assessor of students
- • Knowledge of quality improvement methods and techniques.
- • Able to provide intrapartum care during times of service escalation / when on-call
