Newly Qualified Nurse – Register Your Interest

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

Competition to join one of our preceptorship programmes has been very high this year and we have been overwhelmed by the number and calibre of applications we received.  As a result, we have now filled almost all our allocations and our main advert has been closed. While there may be some ad hoc adverts for unique locations or vacancies including Child Health, we now do not expect to advertise for Adult Registered NQNs until late autumn for a winter intake.

Main duties of the job

Thank you for your interest in our Newly Registered Nurse (NQN) 2024 intake.  We have already undertaken and completed our initial round of adult and child registered nurse interviews and filled these allocations.  You may see occasional adverts for Child Health Registered NQNs but for details of our next Adult Registered intake you can register your interest by clicking apply.  By doing so you will be amongst the first to know when we reopen vacancies.

We will ask you to complete a short application with minimal information.

Please note, this is not suitable for experienced nurses who are newly registered in the UK.  If you are newly registered in the UK but have existing experience as a registered nurse in another country, please apply for one of our experienced nurse vacancies instead.

Working for our organisation

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.

All non-clinical roles may involve a mixture of on site and remote working, Specific details and flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
