Main duties of the job

The SETT Centre was established as part of UHS research infrastructure in 2021. SETT is focused on Advanced Therapies, MedTech and Data & AI to translate cutting-edge research and innovation into clinical care and patient outcomes. 

We are looking for an experienced programme manager in our MedTech Research and Innovation Programme

•         Working across Wessex to capture and map current levels of innovation support in the region based on capability, experience and resources
•         To build on the Wessex Initiative for Strategic and Pragmatic Regulatory Science programme bridging the gap between regulators and innovators 
•         Work with Wessex stakeholders to scope and deliver a Wessex programme to engage, build and flow industry and innovator pipelines (pragmatic adaption and support of SIGHT and other industry initiatives)
•         Work with key stakeholders to scope and develop the infrastructure required for the future ambition of a Wessex Health Tech Centre

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

a)    To lead a high-profile programme across Wessex, involving strategic thinking, quality improvement, programme management and stakeholder engagement across primary care, public health, secondary care, and local communities.

b)    Work closely with service partners to develop and implement strategic and operational and plans to deliver the programme outcomes.

c)    Support and communicate effectively with complex, long term and often interdependent projects that form the programme

You will have


•    Demonstrable experience in managing SME and innovator relationships.
•    Proven ability to generate research funding
• In-depth knowledge of NIHR and other research infrastructure relevant to Wessex
•    Considerable familiarity with the research pathway from ideation through to delivery and demonstrable experience in supporting innovators along the pathway. 
•    Demonstrable knowledge of regulations and regulatory bodies as applied to MedTech and innovation pathways

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a health care setting.
  • Member of relevant professional body – where appropriate.
Desirable criteria
  • QSIR college associate.
  • Coaching qualification.

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of project management /improvement skills across a range of disciplines, with a track record of managing successful change.
  • Holds a relevant project management qualification (e.g. Prince2 Practitioner) or can demonstrate relevant equivalent knowledge
  • Presenting and communicating to a variety of different audiences
  • Experience at a senior level in industry or healthcare sector
  • Demonstrable experience in managing SME and innovator relationships
  • Proven ability to generate research funding
  • In depth knowledge of NIHR and other research infrastructure relevant to Wessex
  • Considerable familiarity with the research pathway from ideation through to delivery and demonstrable experience in supporting innovators along the pathway.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of regulations and regulatory bodies as applied to MedTech and innovation pathways
  • Evidence of leading and implementing change, influencing behaviour, collaborative working with others.
  • Evidence of significant structured project management skills and experience.
  • Previous experience in quality / service improvement environment

  • Previous experience in healthcare setting.

  • Experience of working with and influencing clinicians.
