Main duties of the job

Research is a rewarding and patient-centred career!

The research conducted at UHS is focused on the health and well-being of our patients and their families and significantly contributes to the future progress of healthcare for all patients.

We can truly make a difference in an individual’s care and experience within UHS. We strive to ensure that research is considered a treatment option for all eligible patients, and close collaboration with clinical teams and within patients’ clinical pathways ensures that research opportunities and our research teams are expanding. We are delighted to offer these posts in our research teams to suitable candidates wishing to start or develop their skills and practice in clinical research.

Working for our organisation

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
Specific to this role we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service.  UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

There are approx. 300 Research Nurses, AHPs, Midwives, Clinical Research Practitioners and Clinical Trials Assistants, as well as a team of non-clinical support staff, led by a Senior Research Nursing Team, working together across the Trust in all specialities.  Our teams are award winning and bring exciting research opportunities to UHS for the benefit of our patients and for the future of healthcare at UHS.
