What you’ll do
- Ensure a high standard of care for level 1 and level 2 post operative patients and safe transfer to critical care unit/other area
- Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act)
- Work with Medical staff and multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient safety and treatment are carried out asper Trust policies
- Able to communicate effectively, in person and written, in all situations with wide range of people, Full use of IT systems
- Able to work unsupervised using own initiative and ability to prioritise workload in challenging situation
- Maintain accurate records of observation, treatment and patient care.
- Get involved with Education team, support junior staff and get engaged with link roles in the unit
- Able to demonstrate behaviours that meet the Trust Values - Patient First, Working Together and Always Improving

-Qualified Nurse/ODP Adult or Dual registered Adult/Child

- Recovery/critical care unit experience is desirable but not essential

- Flexible to work patterns, which includes short shifts, early, lates, twilights, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing environment

- Positive attitude and team player

 

 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse or ODP on relevant part of the register
  • Degree or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant resus qualification, ie Immediate Life Support
  • Specialist theatre work-based learning course, or mentorship course, post-qualification.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Has the ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intraoperative phase of perioperative care, giving concise accurate handover
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to support learners in practice and to create a positive learning environment
  • Practices and promotes the use of evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute health service.
  • Understanding of personal accountability.
  • Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching and supporting learners in practice
  • Experience of working within relevant care setting
  • Interest in research to promote good practice
