Maternity Ward Clerk

Hours: Part time

Role Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the maternity department providing comprehensive and responsive administrative, digital and clerical support service to more than one of the Trust’s Maternity Service wards.

Main duties of the job

What we look for:

  • Experience in maternity care or in an administrative role to join our team contributing to an effective and efficient ward clerk service, inputting information into the IT systems and welcoming new patients onto the ward
  • Ability to work as part of a team, be organised and prioritise personal workload
  • Friendly and professional, with good communication skills

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • A good standard of secondary education, including GCSE grade A - C or equivalent alternative qualification or experience.
Desirable criteria
  • • NVQ in Business and Administration or equivalent qualifications or experience.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Previous experience of working with and helping to maintain a range of office and administrative IT systems
  • • Experience of working in and contributing to the performance of a team.

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships that facilitate the achievement of the ward’s responsibilities and objectives.
  • • Ability to respond effectively to unpredictable or difficult situations that may arise, knowing when to resolve personally and when to refer to more senior colleagues.
Desirable criteria
  • • To have a working understanding of the roles and responsibilities of professions within an acute hospital and how wards function as part of a hospital on a day-to-day basis.
