Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse/Allied Health Professional to initiate, or further develop a career in clinical research. This role will enable you to develop your skills and knowledge in this proactive area of healthcare.

You will join an enthusiastic, driven and caring team in a friendly, professional working environment. The team aim is to deliver a variety of studies to improve patient care and outcomes.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic Registered Nurse/AHP who is organised, self-motivated and aspires to further their acknowledge and career in Clinical Research. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment and delivery, to closure of a study. You will need to have an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills. Good IT skills and the ability to project manage and problem-solve in order to guide and support the team. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement and recruit to studies. Critical Care or Rheumatology experience is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Research nurse/practitioner is to coordinate clinical research studies at HHFT. As a Research Nurse/practitioner you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in these trials, facilitating high standards of nursing care and promoting the continuity of care of patients involved in these trials.

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience post registration, minimum 3 years
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Previous experience of working in an acute clinical area
  • Evidence of implementing significant change or developments that promote good practice
  • Experience of managing a caseload of patients
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of conducting clinical trials to GCP/EU directive standards

  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate, assess and plan care for patients
  • Demonstrates the required behaviour in keeping with the Trust values

Training and Qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate a good command of the English Language both written and verbal
  • Professional registration e.g NMC or HPC
  • Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience or alternative study
  • Evidence of role development, responsibilities and leadership
  • Training or experience in mentorship
Desirable criteria
  • Good clinical practice training
  • Communication skills learning or development
