This is a great opportunity for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our dynamic and innovative Medicines Management pharmacy team supporting our discharge teams. You will be working in a very friendly and supportive pharmacy and ward team.

You must be highly organized, motivated, have excellent communication and people skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to new situations.

If you are interested in pursuing a career as a Pharmacy Technician, this post will give you an excellent foundation experience and understanding of the Medicines Management role in hospital pharmacy.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the provision of a safe and efficient Pharmacy service to the  wards  of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

To assist the medicines management team both on the wards and in the dispensary to ensure that medication is supplied accurately and cost effectively. Providing medications to patients for discharge to ensure that they can take their medication easily.

To support the management of ward medicines in line with the Trust medicines optimisation policy.

We are the Medicines Management team based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. We are part of the wider pharmacy Clinical team that work across the hospital covering admissions, medical, surgery, respiratory, stroke & elderly care wards.  We are a very friendly and supportive team and will provide excellent additional training for all those who want to progress.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Level 2 NVQ certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills
  • GCSE’s in Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • JAC computer experience
  • Knowledge of health & safety

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a pharmacy
  • Experience of using computers, particularly Microsoft Office and web-based learning
Desirable criteria
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience

Skills & Ability

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
