Band 7 Assurance and Governance Midwife

Fixed Term Contract or Secondment - 12 Months

37.5 Hrs per week

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake related governance activities within the maternity services and wider as required, this will include completing investigations within maternity service as requested by the Maternity Safety & Governance Lead. 

  • To manage and co-ordinate complex audit process independently but in collaboration with clinical teams  

  • To lead and co-ordinate the recommendations and action plans of all audits to provide assurance that the maternity services are achieving and working towards continual quality improvements in clinical practice

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Registered midwife

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • At least 3 years experience in an acute NHS healthcare setting
  • • Evidence of undertaking senior/lead roles dealing with risk management, quality of care or patient safety issues
  • • Experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of undertaking audits/surveys/focus groups and change management

Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Knowledge of quality improvement methods and techniques
  • • Specialist knowledge of all stages of the governance cycle. In depth specialist knowledge of NHS clinical governance strategy, policy and current issues.
  • • Able to organise and facilitate meetings effectively
