Band 5 Preceptor Midwife – Maternity unit and community setting, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester/Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke

Role Description: Preceptorship programme to join a forward thinking and high achieving organisation. Our maternity services are committed to women-focused care and you key role will be to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to all women whilst interacting well with a multi-disciplinary team.

Flexible working patterns will be considered for all midwifery applicants.

Main duties of the job

  • Newly qualified midwives with the ambition to deliver outstanding care to both high and low risk mothers within all midwifery environments
  • The ability to work well within a dynamic and experienced multi-professional team
  • Promote and support clinical and cultural change within the organisation

  • We offer an excellent preceptorship programme, including bespoke study days and training, generous supernumerary period, fully supported by our Practice Development Team
  • Regular reviews with the PD team and personalised plans to achieve progression to Band 6 within a supportive and friendly environment. Ongoing clinical supervision through the PMA team.

  • • Registered as a Midwife with the NMC or due to be registered
Desirable criteria
  • NIPE practitioner

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Must be able to demonstrate midwifery knowledge and skill
  • • Has the experience and knowledge to be competent at managing, with supervision, a defined group of patients.

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • • Must be able to practice midwifery in all clinical areas
  • • Able to risk assess situations as they evolve and be competent in using SBAR
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of team working
  • Basic suturing skills Training
