Band 6

Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.

Job overview

Are you passionate about working with children and their families? Do you want to join a team that values you and your development? If so come and be part of our supportive team on Sophie's Place, where every day is different and you can make a real difference to the care of children and families.

The primary role of our nursing team is in assessing and providing care to children and young people requiring acute assessment. We see children from a range of referral sources and with a wide spectrum of medical and surgical conditions. As a band 6, you would be expected to support and manage a team of nurses and healthcare support workers and to lead the team on a shift by shift basis, utilising your clinical experience and leadership skills

Alongside the acute assessment service, the nursing team support the outpatient and medical day case services. The variety of this role gives many opportunities for ongoing development of general and specialist clinical knowledge and skills. This is a varied and engaging role!

Main duties of the job

  • Enthusiastic and passionate registered Nurses with experience who are eager to develop your own clinical practice, knowledge and skills
  • Staff who are able to (or willing to learn) to act as a role model for colleagues and student nurses within our team
  • Nurses who are able to support the team to ensure that clinical services are delivered to a high standard.
  • Registered Nurses who are able to provide holistic care for patient and their families when they are at their most vulnerable

Working for our organisation

Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.
We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.
The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
