Job overview

We are looking for a Nurse or ODP with theatre experience to work in our busy Urology theatres.  We are looking for a strong candidate who not only possesses a sound clinical knowledge but can demonstrate good leadership skills.  We offer a busy elective Urology service, and this role would give the appropriate candidate the opportunity to thrive and develop themselves and the service.  Your role will be to support the Team Leaders and other Deputy Team Leaders in providing leadership and deputising when appropriate.

You will be expected to manage resources, with support from the senior team, to ensure the effective operational running within your theatre and the department. 

You will assist in providing the delivery of high-quality patient care throughout the Operating Department. The post holder will be committed to providing evidence-based practice whilst working as part of and leading a multi professional team.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing Urology specialist clinical skills within the intra-operative field whilst supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care in line with evidence-based practice.

To act as a clinical expert and role model predominantly in the Urology speciality. 

To motivate and inspire others to ensure clinical excellence, promoting awareness and cascading information regarding best practice and research.

Take immediate action and inform Sister / Team Leader(s) where performance, conduct or attendance falls short of the expected standard.

To assist with and participate in, the recruitment, retention, and professional development of staff.

Provide in-service training for specialist equipment to more inexperienced theatre staff.

Report and action any deficiencies / faults with such equipment / instrumentation via the appropriate channels to ensure its continued safe 

operation.
