An exciting opportunity has become available to join our highly skilled acute therapy team. We are recruiting an Acute Therapy Team Lead who shares our visions in delivering outstanding care to our patients. You will be responsible for the day to day provision of occupational and physiotherapy services, ensuring our 7 day provision is robust and sustainable. The role is 22.5 hours however this can be discussed for the right person with flexible working opportunities available. You will be based at Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) in Winchester. You will be expected to travel to our other sites as service needs require.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with previous experience in team leadership. You will be expected to maintain your professional registration and take a small clinical caseload based around your clinical expertise.

You will be working in a well-established multi-disciplinary team and will be supported to continue to develop your clinical and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

As Team Leader you will have clinical and operational responsibility for Acute Therapy Services at RHCH

Operationally you will be responsible for the daily leadership and organisation of the Team which consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists , Therapy Practitioners and Therapy assistants, covering surgical, medical, AMU and Care of the Elderly wards. This will include but not be exclusive to clinical supervision, performance management, sickness and absence management, staff appraisal, daily staffing numbers and staff deployment across a 7 day service including on-call. You will be supported to do this by a well-established band 7 team. You will also be expected to manage a small caseload as well as being the point of clinical excellence within the team.

Good prioritisation, organisational and time management skills will be needed to balance clinical and non-clinical duties.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of service review and development, as well as the stamina to ensure clinical/evidence based practice is delivered at all times.

To attend operational and service related meetings as a representative of OT, PT and Therapy Services, to advise on service developments in line with national standards, guidelines and current evidence base.

Please note whilst this post will be based in Winchester there is an expectation that you will be able to work on any of our sites (Basingstoke, Andover or Winchester).

Training and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in relevant profession
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development including reflective practice, in service training and courses attended and clinical governance gained
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised post-graduate qualification e.g. MSc or equivalent experience
  • Member of relevant professional body (RCOT/CSP)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of experience including experience at Band 6 level
  • Knowledge & experience of a wide range of approaches to patient management, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
  • Experience of staff supervision and mentorship including employee relations, performance, conduct and training needs
  • Evidence of implementing change to promote good practice
