We are keen to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated full time Head of Audiology Services to lead our friendly, busy Adult Audiology Department at Hereford County Hospital and Paediatric Audiology Department at Children's Hearing Centre Ross Road.

The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team of ENT medical staff, Paediatricians, Clinical Scientists, Audiologists, Hearing Therapists and an Assistant Audiologists. The Departments provides a comprehensive audiological service for adults, paediatrics, balance and tinnitus. You will be responsible for teams based at both Hereford County Hospital and Children's Hearing Centre on Ross road, also several sites around the County of Herefordshire. Therefore you must be willing to travel between sites when required.

We are striving to deliver excellence in patient care - you will act as the Professional lead and clinical manager for the Audiology services, whilst maintaining a high quality Audiology caseload in a clinical speciality (paediatric audiology or adult audiology services) This will require the use of highly developed physical skills where accuracy is important

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the operational and strategic management, professional and clinical leadership of the Audiology service across the organisation ensuring that the key priorities and targets are met within the services through maximising clinical and practitioner involvement. 

 You will work closely with the clinical teams across the organisation to achieve the service objectives. The post holder will be a registered Audiologist and have responsibility for professional leadership within Audiology Services.

The work will involve a significant degree of responsibility and will require the ability to communicate verbally or through an interpreter complex and sensitive information.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BAAT parts I or II or a recognised equivalent
  • Qualified Audiologist with relevant 1st level Degree or equivalent
  • HCPC or relevant Registration
  • Masters level qualification in Audiology, Advanced practice or equivalent experience
  • Risk Management training
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate qualification in Leadership and Management

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Strong and demonstrable leadership skills and experience
  • Knowledge of the skills required in the assessment and treatment of therapy patients/service users with longstanding and complex needs
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and clinical governance
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other partners and professions
  • Advanced key board skills, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable criteria
  • Participation in national and local professional forums

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing people and financial resources at a senior level
  • Experience of developing services in a multi-disciplinary team(s)
  • Experience of leading a service and service development projects
  • Experience of managing a varied, complex caseload
