Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our community children's Occupational Therapy Team.
Working as part of an experienced team alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and other Therapy Assistant Practitioners, you will be providing Occupational Therapy interventions in a variety of community settings including schools and home environments.
The role will involve assisting trained staff and Therapy Assistant Practitioners with assessing patients, including liaising with families and staff to gain social histories. You will be asked to carry out prescribed intervention programmes independently. You will also be required to support with equipment provision and group work.
As a service we are innovative, forward thinking and encourage staff engagement. You will have the opportunity to be involved in service / quality improvement and develop leadership skills, as well as engaging in student placement education.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, therapy support workers use developed skills under the supervision of registered therapists and may also work alone and with other non-registered therapy staff. Tasks and responsibilities include the direct delivery of clinical, technical or scientific activities following the completion of role specific competencies. Therapy support workers are able to make fact-based judgements and suggest treatment progressions to a registered therapist.
This role requires knowledge and understanding of facts, principles, processes and general concepts in their field of work. The post holder will carry out a wider range of delegated duties and will have responsibilities, with supervision and guidance available when needed. Post holder will contribute to service improvement and are responsible for their own development. Therapy support workers will carry their own caseloads that have already been seen by a registered professional, prioritise their own workload, and work with service users under a range of supervisory arrangements while undertaking routine processes.
The post holder will be required to complete the relevant competencies required for the post and participate in 7 day working if required.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Foundation degree Health and Social care or equivalent level 5 qualification and A-Levels and GCSE’s or equivalent(s)
- Level 2 English & Maths
- Care Certificate
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of relevant patient conditions and therapy interventions acquired through training or experience
- Demonstration of knowledge of core Physiotherapy and or Occupational Therapy skills
- Experience of ability to work within a team
- Basic Computer Skills including word processing and e-mail
- Able to work independently (under guidance)
- Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly in new environments
- Ability to ackknowledge role boundaries
- Able to communicate effectively
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience at Band 2 or equivalent within relevant therapy.
- NHS or equivalent experience e.g. in inpatient areas, acute or community or community services
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using /fitting adaptive equipment
