Joint Clinical Lead for the Lymphoedema Service
Band 7
Job overview
This is primarily a clinical role that aims to provide skilled care and expertise in lymphoedema management for all patients managed by the lymphoedema service within Hertfordshire and West Essex. The post holder would be expected to demonstrate competent and compassionate clinical judgement in deciding patient focused long-term goals or plans with the aim of improving quality of life for the patient with lymphoedema.
In addition, there would be scope for developing and delivering education and training to increase knowledge and skills in lymphoedema and chronic oedema management in East & North Hertfordshire and West Essex.
As a band 7, the practitioner would be expected to support the clinical and operational lead to deliver a coordinated, high quality community service. This would require engagement with business planning, resource management and reviewing clinical outcomes both within the Lymphoedema service and on behalf of Hertfordshire Community Trust.

To enhance access for patients we deliver clinics and home visits in East & North Herts and West Essex as well as in the patients usual place of care (i.e. nursing or residential care home) where needed, so the ability to manage ones time, diary and a willingness to drive is important.
This is a full time post however reduced hours would be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Demonstrate the ability to exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy in order to make decisions and provide advice for patients and professionals concerning the management of lymphoedema.
To receive and triage the referral of patients with lymphoedema including complex problems and utilize advanced clinical skills to assess the patients oedema within the context of their long-term health needs
To plan and provide an individualised plan of care for the patient with lymphoedema incorporating patient focused goals and outcomes based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice and knowledge. This should include the ability to provide appropriate levels of intervention for the patient in keeping with the four cornerstones of care namely skin-care, exercise, compression and Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
Provide highly specialist lymphoedema advice and support to generalist nurses, care agencies and health professionals including doctors and consultants, to ensure high quality individualised patient care.
