Championing and driving innovation and productivity, you will set the tone for change by generating enthusiasm for the overall improvement agenda across HPFT. Responsible for the development, application and evaluation of evidence-based improvement methodologies you will foster engagement with service users, carers and staff to promote and harness an ethos of continuous improvement and drive for excellence.
You will identify opportunities for service improvement using research, audit, benchmarking, national and international best practice. By leading the application of existing improvement, quality development and transformation resources you will drive effective and evidence based practice, demonstrating productivity across the organisation. You will be passionate about the opportunities digital transformation may deliver, and you will be able to deliver programmes of activity confidently.

You will lead the development of an overarching innovation, improvement & productivity strategy in line with NHS IMPACT and other emerging national priorities and agendas.
The Chief Innovation and Improvement Officer will bring and apply expert insight and vision to understand services provided not only from an organisational perspective but also through the lens of service users. You will be expected to drive innovation to improve clinical processes and organisational culture by applying evidence-based improvement methodologies.
Establishing direct links between delivery of the Improvement Strategy and performance, efficiency and productivity is a principal feature of the role.
You will lead the Trust wide transformation programme using approaches that recognise the day-to-day realities/challenges of running the Trust through pragmatic methods which engage and encourage staff.  It is also anticipated the CIIO will provide visible and strong system leadership, working into the Integrated Care Systems, Place Based Partnerships and Mental Health & Learning Disability Partnership, together with the East of England Collaborative to drive improvement for the communities we serve.

  • Relevant postgraduate level innovation / improvement or related qualification/experience

  • Evidence of continuing director level professional and personal development.
  • Clinical qualification / background
  • Prince II or other Project Management qualification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Significant management and leadership experience at a board or very senior level in the NHS (Deputy Director level) or other complex organisation/system.
  • Experience of leading complex large scale innovation & improvement projects / programmes.
  • Experience of developing and delivering innovation / improvement models and programmes at scale across an organisation
  • Extensive knowledge, and application of improvement methods.
  • Knowledge of the NHS and social care agenda.

  • Experience of digital change programmes in healthcare or commercial environments
  • Board Director in the NHS or other complex organisation

Leadership and Management Skills
