We are recruiting for mental health nurses, social workers or OT to work flexibly within the team.

Areas within the Single Point of Access include Adult MH, Wellbeing, and CAMHS. We are a large multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff who work closely to provide Hertfordshire with an outstanding gateway into mental health services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Work in a large multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff who work closely to provide Hertfordshire with an outstanding gateway into mental health services
  • provide an office based telephone triage service
  • have excellent listening skills which will enable you to make robust clinical decisions without the aid of visual cues
  • work during operational hours are Monday – Friday

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To act as an autonomous clinician/practitioner providing a comprehensive telephone screening and triage service to service users, carers and their referrers resulting in a safe and appropriate clinical decision.
  • To facilitate the provision of accurate health & social care information, self-care / improvement advice or, where applicable, referring to the appropriate level and location of care, in order to meet the holistic and therapeutic requirements of the service user
  • To Provide some supervision and advice to referral advisors within the Single Point of Access
  • To screen and triage new referrals coming into the service. To ensure service users are directed to the most appropriate service with a clear care plan and advice.

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience
  • Professional Qualification (RMN, DipSW, OT or equivalent)
  • Post registration experience in relevant mental health/learning disability setting.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies
  • Substantial post qualification experience
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and Assessing in clinical practice training
  • AMHP

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to health and social care mental health service provision
  • Significant experience of triage and assessment within a secondary mental health or learning disability setting
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Evidence based practice
  • Provision of effective clinical/practice supervision
  • Multi-professional team working
  • Previous experience having worked with IT systesms and competent knowledge of IT Systems
  • Previous experience of third sector agencies that support people with mental health issues, either having worked for them or engaged them in some way, e.g MIND, CGL, Turning Point
