Job overview

We are recruiting for a Cardiographer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Lister Hospital has a busy Cardiology department supporting 17  Consultant Cardiologists. We have a busy ambulatory service, performing over 5000 ambulatory monitors a year with plans for expansion

There are two Cardiac Catheter labs supporting a 24/7 PPCI service.

An established Brady pacing service supporting face to face appointments as well as home monitoring.

The department also has a very busy ECHO department

Main duties of the job

The Cardiographer team work within a positive and supportive environment with patient care at the centre of everything they do.  The role can be very diverse and no two days are the same.

You will be responsible for assisting with the smooth running of cardiology clinics, keeping accurate records, and updating computer and hospital databases.  

In this role you will also perform electrocardiograms (ECG’s) on both outpatient and inpatients.  You will need to be aware of any ECG findings which need to be brought to the attention of medical / nursing staff and to act accordingly.

You will also be responsible for running outpatient ambulatory ECG clinics.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level
Desirable criteria
  • BLS
  • A-level or equivalent Qualification

Previous Experience

  • Evidence of having worked with the public
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of having worked in the care environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to clearly and appropriately convey instructions and ensure patient understanding
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing and demanding situations

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clear understanding of the role and activities required of a health care worker in an acute setting.
  • Awareness of the needs of the patient group

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of general cardiac conditions

  • Willingness to rotate to other areas within the cardiology department and across sites if required
