Job overview

We are recruiting for Nurse Team Manager who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is an exciting time to join the acute division of unplanned care, where we are incorporating multi-speciality medical and same day emergency care, all into one footprint under the umbrella of acute medical services.

We are seeking an experienced acute or emergency Nurse Team Manager who would like to develop their management and skills in a busy assessment unit.

You will be able to adapt to continually changing situations whilst promoting the highest quality patient care, working closely and collaboratively with same day emergency care and the emergency department to maintain timely and safe patient flow.

Main duties of the job

The Nurse Team manager will be accountable for the line management of nursing staff, enabling the department to provide the highest standards of care, minimising any risks to service users.

Promote high standards of professional practice and the delivery of quality care within the corporate policies, protocols, and guidelines.

Be accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures at department level, through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy as outlined in Section 3 of the strategy.

Be accountable for the budget management.

Provide effective leadership for all nurses, clinical support workers, clerks and ward housekeepers employed by the service.

Be a member of the directorate’s management team providing expert advice and direction on nursing and clinical governance issues.

Be a role model for nurses, representing the department and Trust as required and identified by the PSM, DHON,HON, Clinical Director and General Manager. 

The post holder will be required to work a mix of long day and night shifts both clinically and supervisory, demonstrating sound clinical knowledge across multiple specialities.

Qualifications/Training:

Essential criteria
  • 1 st level registration
  • ILS
  • Accident and emergency course or Advanced Health Assessment and diagnostic indicators Course or equivalent
  • Degree to Bsc level
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post registration Qualifications
  • ALS provider
  • PILS/ APLS

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post qualification experience
  • Proven current experience as junior sister in the ED
  • Triage trained
Desirable criteria
  • experince of managing staff sickness
  • experience of managing complaints
  • experience managing rosters
  • Experience in the management of Adult and Adolescent Mental Health presentations

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current clinical and nursing developments.
  • Demonstrates expert clinical skills
  • Demonstrates evidence based practice.
  • Competent within role to meet the individual needs of clients including cultural sensitivities, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • The ability to evolve within the role and lead and support colleagues during periods of change within the clinical setting.
