Main duties of the job

This role is for a Middle Grade Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 12 months, with a 1:14 middle grade rota covering Obstetrics and Gynaecology 

While this is not a training post, we provide ample opportunities to develop your expertise in all areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Enjoy a friendly and collaborative workplace where your contributions are valued. 

 Applicants must hold full GMC registration and a license to practice. We are open to part-time, or job share applications.

  • Gynaecology theatre sessions
  • Specialist Gynaecological clinics
  • Participation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergency care
  • To participate in the department’s teaching, audit, and educational activities.
  • Day to day running of the emergency Gynaecology, labour ward, obstetric wards, antenatal clinic

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
  • MRCOG part 2 or qualification of an equivalent level
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate academic degree
  • College Fellowship

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of audit

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an interest in, commitment to and have broad experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
  • Recognition of and ability to undertake the initial management of an acutely ill patient
  • Demonstrate aptitude for practical skills e.g., hand eye co-ordination, dexterity, visuospatial awareness.
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience

Fitness to Practice

  • Up to date and fit to practice safely and aware of own training needs.
  • Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors
  • Able to show situational awareness and application of good decision making
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in organising educational activities.
  • Ability to teach clinical skills
