Job overview

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Ophthalmology who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are looking for a Staff Nurse (RGN) with an interest in developing their practice and Leadership skills in our friendly ophthalmic Eye Unit.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team of nursing staff and develop your skills further in this field in a supportive environment. We would also welcome newly qualified RGNS without Ophthalmic experience as we would support and develop you to gain the necessary skills and knowledge in this advancing specialty. 

Ophthalmology is a busy and innovative department. This will involve working across 3 sites possibly needing to cross sites throughout the day.

Main duties of the job

To act as the leader of a nursing team in providing high quality ophthalmic nursing care working within a cohesive multidisciplinary team. This will cover both the ophthalmic eye admissions unit and outpatients’ environments.

To work according to the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse (or key worker) for a defined group of patients.

To maintain effective communication.

To facilitate and support staff nurses, student nurses and others to develop their competence and skills which will enable them to become competent practitioners.

To participate in the training and development of Ophthalmic Technicians.
