Job overview

We are recruiting for a Sleep/CPAP Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

This post holder will undertake Sleep Diagnostics and CPAP clinics at both Lister and Hertford County Hospitals.

You will be responsible for the management of all equipment involved in the clinics, ensuring excellent infection control procedures.

You must be able to communicate effectively with all members of the team and patients.

Main duties of the job

As a Sleep/CPAP Technician you will work to clear guidelines in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care of sleep and CPAP patients. 

Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. 

Participate in the development of self and others. 

The post holder will work closely with the sleep specialists, to support adults suffering with potential sleep disorders, performing, taking bloods and clinical observations.

The post holder will be responsible for setting up new patients with domiciliary sleep studies, downloading data and infection control management of equipment.  

Review adult outpatients suffering with obstructive sleep apnoea who currently use CPAP. Assess and monitor progress and evaluating interventions. Ensuring safe management and improving the health status of this patient group. 

Maintain and update the sleep database in conjunction with other members of the team.

Take part in research projects.

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in health care setting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working with Sleep Disorder Patients
  • Experience using CPAP with patient

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding
  • Flexibility and team participation
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to perform basic clinical observations such as BP, Pulse, Oxygen Saturations
  • Ability to organise own workload independently

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of basic sleep disorders and treatments
Desirable criteria
  • Good understanding of Lorenzo ( patient administration system)
  • Used CPAP platform ‘Airview’
