Main duties of the job

Provide expertise and support within the RTT Validation team liaising with clinicians, general managers, service managers, service co-ordinators and clerical staff in the delivery of patient care via the Trust’s elective waiting lists. 

Support the administration of the patient’s referral to treatment (RTT) pathway with advice and training and is responsible for the accuracy of information on the Trust’s Patient Tracking Lists. 

They will also lead on identified issues and projects to help improve RTT data quality across the Trust.

Responsible for ensuring that patient records’ have the correct clock start and stop by validating and interpreting patient pathways from first outpatient appointment through to first definitive treatment. This may involve adjusting / correcting patient pathways where inaccurate data
entries have been input into Lorenzo.

Liaise with internal departments and external providers and to ensure that tight deadlines are met (both internal and external). Liaise closely with 18 week validators in the Trust in order to facilitate the patient pathway to ensure the timely management of patient care and that the MDS targets are met.

Communicate, cascade changes, issues discussed at meetings the post holder attends to all staff within the Division; this may be of a contentious and confidential nature. To help establish and maintain a communication cascade within the operational team to ensure all staff are aware of both
Trust and departmental developments.

Qualifications/ Training

Essential criteria
  • IT qualifications / skills – NVQ4 / 5
  • Working knowledge of MS office, especially Excel.
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive administrative experience within the NHS
  • Experience of service development
  • Office administration in a busy environment
  • Customer / patient care
  • Good understanding of medical terminology
  • Good understanding of PAS
Desirable criteria
  • Have knowledge of an Access Policy and departmental processes
  • Knowledge of Lorenzo
