Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker-Higher Level who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are looking for a committed person to be an integral part of our team and demonstrate a willingness to develop the knowledge and skills required to assist in caring for renal haemodialysis patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The post holder will provide assistance to the nursing team in the process of haemodialysis and work collaboratively and co-operatively to meet the needs of patients and their families within the sphere of their level of competence related to in-service training, at the discretion of the unit sister.

The successful candidate will be working primarily in the acute dialysis unit, caring for inpatients requiring haemodialysis. There may be a requirement to work in the RITA unit.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a high standard of nursing care to meet the needs of patients with supervision and support from senior colleagues.

Prepare each individuals environment, equipment and materials appropriately for the procedure prior to starting the procedure.

Prepare for, undertake and record haemodialysis treatment as delegated.

Be responsible for the accurate recording of clinical observations and data relating to patients care, ensuring any concerns are discussed with senior colleagues.

To identify clinical changes in patients and seek timely advice from senior colleagues whenever necessary.

Undertake the delegated task/assessments correctly, effectively, to time and report back on those aspects of assessments.

  • Previous experience in a renal haemodialysis setting or experience in a clinical setting

Skills

  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding.
  • Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Renal Unit Training Programme part 1 competencies or equivalent Health related level 2 apprenticeship and QCF (or equivalent qualification).
  • Willingness to successfully complete the level 3 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification) within 12 months of employmen
