Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker - Renal Units who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

We are a friendly and welcoming unit caring for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease.

You will work as an integral part of the team and demonstrate a willingness to develop the knowledge and skills required to assist in caring for renal haemodialysis patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Main duties of the job

 

In this role you will be responsible for communicating clearly, effectively, and appropriately with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their family, visitors and carers.

To assist nursing staff in maintaining patients’ well-being and dignity in a safe environment and in maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity.

You will Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care and provide reassurance and support to patients and carers/family.

To help with cleaning and preparing all necessary equipment’s for patients’ and report any damaged or faulty equipment’s to the nurse in charge.

Move patients, machinery and goods in accordance with East & North Herts NHS Trust policies and procedures, whilst identifying and minimising the risks involved.

Assist in the assessment of health care needs by undertaking those physiological observations that have been delegated by the registered nurse and report any concerns in a timely manner.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Good Basic education
  • Willingness to successfully complete the level 2 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification) within 12 months of employment.
  • Willingness to successfully complete the relevant renal competencies for the role
  • Previous experience in a health care setting
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with individuals of varying levels of understanding
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to work
  • Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Health related level 2 apprenticeship and QCF (or equivalent qualification
  • Basic IT skills or willingness to develop
