Job overview

We are recruiting for an Administrator who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Pre-operative assessment service is delighted to be able to recruit an Administrator to our team.

You will be a team player, friendly, approachable and able to interface with the public and all members of the multidisciplinary team.

You will be responsible for supporting the administrative aspects of the patients’ attendances ahead of their elective surgery/procedure, both in a face-to-face capacity as well as over the telephone.

Main duties of the job

As an Administrator you will be booking preoperative assessment appointments and associated clinic appointments.

Accurately recording clinic appointment outcomes on an electronic patient administration system (Lorenzo)

The reception of patients and their relatives, co- coordinating their attendance to the service.

To provide a point of reference for the service by dealing with queries from staff and patients.

To ensure all patient health records are available prior to an appointment date and adequately prepared.

Maintain close liaison with administration staff within the waiting list, admissions, and health records departments.

Qualifications/ training

Essential criteria
  • Basic general education
  • Computer / IT literate
  • Willingness to undertake on the job training appropriate to the role
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised secretarial qualification or equivalent
  • PAS trained

Previous experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous clerical / receptionist experience
  • Adaptability to work in a busy administrative environment
Desirable criteria
  • Currently working in an acute surgical ward or health care environment

  • Evidence of good and accurate verbal and written communication skills
