Job overview

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse/ODP in Theatres  who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Theatres is an expanding service providing excellent care now to include admission and recovery of elective patients and a continued emergency service for the Trust. This role may be of interest for nurses who have experience in either Operating Theatres, Day Surgery,  and or general surgical experience.

The team currently covers 24/7 365 days a year you will be expected to work evenings, nights,  on calls, bank holidays and weekends as part of a rotation with other team members.

Main duties of the job

Adhere to NMC/HCPC Code at all times. They should demonstrate commitment to provide a safe and cost efficient, quality patient care through effective team working.

Expected to function clinically within the Main Operating Theatres, Treatment Centre, Day Surgery Unit and other associated areas as required.

Participate in the training of junior staff and continue their own personal and professional development. They should honour the Trust’s Core values by demonstrating appropriate behaviours and encouraging this in others.

Maintain a high standard of documentation in accordance with NMC/HCPC for Record keeping.

Participation in on- calls and out of hours working is needed by all staff, regardless of the department they are based in, to provide emergency access to our most acutely ill patients.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
  • Must be willing to undertake relevant post registration courses as advised by the Practice Educators/ Theatre Team Leaders
Desirable criteria
  • ILS/ALS
  • PILS

Previous Experience

  • Gained through undertaking relevant study

  • Post qualification experience within the perioperative setting
