Job overview

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

7A is a 29 bedded ward specialising in Vascular Surgery. We provide a variety of diverse and complex treatment to vascular patients. The ward incorporates 6 monitored beds which be used for level  2 patients post surgery. As a Member of the team you will work on both the general ward and our monitored beds.

We are committed to providing the best care possible to all patients.

Applicants must demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills on a day to day basis. The successful applicant must deputise for the ward manager in their absence.

We offer various training that will enhance your leadership skills.

The post will require participation on weekends, bank holidays, days and nights for 24 hour nursing cover.

Main duties of the job

The role of the band 6 requires you to be able to support the ward manager in leading an established team of nurses in providing high quality care to our pre and post op patients. with the additional skills of:

  • Allocate staff according to skill mix,
  • ensuring staff are completing daily quality control tasks
  • Ability to work days, nights and weekends is a must and a requirement of the post
  • good leadership skills
  • ability to prioritise workload
  • ensure high quality care is given each and every shift.
  • must lead by example

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register
  • Evidence of professional development and commitment to life long learning
  • Ability to produce personal professional portfolio.
  • Proven knowledge of Gastroenterology and general surgery
  • Mentorship/ Preceptorship course
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate post registration qualification

Previous experience

  • Experience at Band 5 or equivalent
