Job overview

The Associate Director of Contract Management will be responsible for providing expert specialist contract management provision and advice in the support of the Procurement function in the development and implementation of the ICS’s procurement strategy.

The post holder will be experienced in contract management and influencing senior stakeholders. They will ensure that the procurement and contract management strategy is understood, and that effective support is achieved for a successful implementation.

The post holder will be directly involved in identifying contracted and non-contracted spend, supporting the procurement team in developing suitable contracts with key measurables, liaising with key stakeholders on contract management best practice, identifying areas of improvement.

The post holder shall also support the Associate Director of Clinical Procurement on Value Based Procurement projects and Out of Hospital projects to deliver against the cost improvement plan. 

The role requires an ambitious leader who will act as a driver of change to support the Director of Procurement in achieving the future vision of the new function.

The hours of this post are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have the ability to lead, inspire and drive a culture of continual improvement, ensuring that contract management processes are effective and efficient and enable the highest possible levels of service quality to be continually provided.

They will engage with senior stakeholders across the Integrated Care System comprising of 5 Trusts as well as suppliers. They will be required to have strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills and champion a culture of identifying and delivering value for money. 

The post holder will provide specialist contract management advice and promote and educate the approach across the wider organisation.

They will support the delivery of savings across contract management in addition to other procurement led projects.

The post holder will be an experienced leader with detailed knowledge of Public Sector procurement and contracting legislation as well as experience of working within a large multi-layered organisation(s).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Associate Director of Contract Management role will directly report into the Associate Director of Clinical Procurement who will be responsible for leading the new contract management function and driving the initial transformation programme and continuing transformation post completion of the initial project.

The Associate Director of Contract Management will be responsible for providing expert specialist contract management provision and advice in the support of the Procurement function in the development and implementation of the ICS’s procurement strategy.

This will involve working with and influencing senior Trusts’ managers and clinicians to ensure that the strategy is understood and that effective support for the strategy is achieved.

The post holder will support the development and promotion of contract management and supporting the development of the ICS’ overarching strategic procurement objectives and policies, ensuring that it obtains best value for money, contracts are appropriately managed whilst complying with legislation. This includes direct involvement in identifying contracted and non-contracted spend, supporting the procurement team in developing suitable contracts with key measurables, liaising with key stakeholders on contract management best practice, identifying areas of improvement and compiling and implementing a contract management policy. 

The post holder shall also support the Associate Director of Clinical Procurement on Value Based Procurement projects and Out of Hospital projects to deliver against the cost improvement plan.
