An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic nurse/AHP to join Isle of Wight hospital trust as a Clinical Specialist for Inpatient Pain Service. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career by taking this role as the Lead Nurse/AHP for Inpatient Pain Management.
You will be responsible, along with our Consultant Anaesthetists specialising in Pain Management, in maintaining the very highest standards of pain management within the Trust This involves daily ward rounds, responding to complex referrals from all areas of the hospital and overseeing and managing a diverse teaching programme plus writing and updating Trust Guidelines relating to all forms of Pain Management. You will be a role model as well as a sound reliable resource for nursing and medical staff within the Trust.
We have strong links with Local Universities who support us with a wide range of CPD modules at BSc and MSc Levels. We also offer added opportunities for in house continued clinical skills training, leadership programme, and interpersonal skills workshops.
For applicants who do not currently hold all the essential qualifications, a band 7 annex 21, training role would be considered. This will be assessed as part of the interview process.

As an experienced nurse/AHP you will deliver a high-quality pain management specialist nursing service to our patients and staff by promoting excellence in practice.
In this role you will:
Organise and facilitate the provision of effective pain management strategies for in patients, particularly in the post-operative period and for patients admitted to hospital with acute pain.
Work autonomously within the pain management team.
Supervise nursing provision to inpatient pain service, providing support to nursing colleagues.
Provide telephone/bleep response to wards and enquiries from other healthcare professionals.
Assess patients referred to pain service pre-operatively.
Assist with pain management for chronic pain in patients as requested by colleagues on wards and A&E.
Advise and support ward managers in implantation of safe and effective pain management.
Review in-patient referrals.
Give advice on pain management where appropriate.
Provide education across the trust
Promote continual service improvements and patient experience by undertaking audit projects and quality improvement projects.

Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
