Job overview

To provide specialist operational safeguarding guidance and leadership to all services within the Isle of Wight Trust on a day-to-day basis. The post holder will support the Integrated Safeguarding Team in the delivery of statutory, regulatory, and contractual safeguarding services, ensuring that an all-age family approach to safeguarding is robustly embedded.

Main duties of the job

  • Proactively work with clinical and non-clinical teams to identify all age safeguarding concerns and risks within the provision of services across the Isle of Wight Trust.
  • Supporting all services in robustly responding to safeguarding concerns and incidents.
  • In conjunction with the Integrated Safeguarding Team ensure the learning from local, regional, and national safeguarding reviews is embedding within Isle of Wight Trust services, improving practice and service provision.
  • Work flexibly across the Integrated Safeguarding Team in the provision of statutory, regulatory, and contractual all age safeguarding services.
  • Assist the Integrated Safeguarding Team in the delivery of training and supervision as outlined in the 2022 – 25 Strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of robust internal policies and guidelines for safeguarding within the Isle of Wight Trust and support all clinical and corporate teams in their application of policy, procedure, and training.
  • Support the Named Professionals for Safeguarding in the scoping and analysis of Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs), Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHRs), Child Safeguarding Practice reviews and any associated action plans.

The post holder will be required to use the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, whilst supporting the operational clinical and non-clinical teams across the Isle of Wight Trust in their application of safeguarding practice.

  • Registered Professional (NMC, HCPC, GMC or equivalent) or extensive transferrable experience in safeguarding
  • Degree level education OR equivalent knowledge and experience in practice
  • Evidence of competency at Level 3 safeguarding children and adults
