Post:   CBS Booking Officer - 37.5 hrs per week, full time, part time

Come and join our busy Outpatient appointments bookings team. 

we have a range of administrative opportunities across our core booking services within the CBS.

The Centralised Booking Service is one of the first contact points for patients referred to our range of acute outpatient services, managing on average 15,000 patient appointments per month across our surgical and medical clinical specialties.

Main duties of the job

The role of the booking officer is to provide timely, efficient scheduling of our patients first and follow up outpatient appointments using our patient clinical administration systems. 

Working within a team setting based at our new dedicated Call Centre style office facilities, St Cross Court Business Park, Newport, Isle of Wight. You will need to be a flexible, reliable motivated individual, who enjoys working in a busy team environment.

We are keen to hear from potential candidates that can demonstrate excellent communication skills, in both a face to face and call handling setting.

You will receive an induction and training programme that will equip you with the necessary skills across our patient information and waiting list systems.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of secondary education equivalent to 5 GCSEs • Experience of working in a team
  • Relevant experience preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to use Word, Email and Hospital IT systems
  • NVQ Level 2 in appropriate subject or relevant business administration experience in a healthcare or client facing role
Desirable criteria
  • Be working towards or have gained NVQ Level 3 in appropriate subject
  • Evidence of learning portfolio

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Handling case notes and deliveries
  • Standard key board skills
  • Call handling and speaking with patients/customers

Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Flexibility in line with service needs
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative to continuously update working practices
  • Reliable and punctual

  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with staff at all levels, both clinical and non-clinical
