We are recruiting for a Trainee Echocardiographer/ Chief Cardiac Physiologist who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. We have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.

We are looking for a motivated, caring, and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team and expanding Cardiac Physiology Service. Our main goal is to provide outstanding patient centred care. The Cardiac Investigations Unit is a small but busy department, offering a range of invasive and non-invasive services to patients needing diagnostic investigations and treatment within our hospital and expanding to the new Community Diagnostic Centre.

The successful candidate will be trained to achieve BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post- graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. For more information, please see the NSHCS website: https://nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/programmes/echocardiography-training-programme.

The  Chief Cardiac  Physiologist position will be subject to successfully completing the Trainee Echocardiographer qualifications.

The post holder is expected to:

Perform and report on a range of highly specialised Cardiac Investigations

Independently perform and report on adult transthoracic Echocardiograms to BSE standard.

Actively engage in the leadership and management of the department, in line with the organisation’s values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect & Everyone Counts.

Actively participate in MDT meetings providing specialist knowledge to other Physiologists and medical staff.

Undertake clinical supervision and training within the Cardiac Investigations Department.

Maintain high standards of care in an environment which promotes equality, dignity, and sensitivity for all individuals.

 

The post holder shall undertake highly skilled cardiac physiological tests on patients to inform clinical diagnosis. You shall be confident in interpreting results, providing factual reports on investigations, and feeding back outcomes to patients in a sensitive and professional manner.

The post holder is required to demonstrate clinical leadership, undertaking clinical supervision and training for trainee staff and professionals up to degree level. You shall also be responsible for participating in regular clinical audit and research and development activities.

  • BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent.
  • Working towards British Society of Echocardiography accreditation/ Heart rhythm society accreditation.

  • Excellent Physical Dexterity Skills.
  • Frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort which may include working in an awkward position, movement of patients in wheelchairs and manoeuvring equipment.
