Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker

We are recruiting for an Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards “great people, great place”.

The midwife is ultimately responsible for the care of the mother and her newborn(s). The Maternity support Worker (MSW) is under the direct or indirect supervision of the midwife and will assist and provide care within a defined scope of practice following completion of any relevant or appropriate training. The MSW will be provided with appropriate training for the clinical setting in which they are working.

The post holder is expected to undertake a set of defined competencies, including the ‘Care Certificate’ within the first 3 months of being in post. ·         To work within the maternity service, acting in a supportive role to midwives and contributing to the safe, sensitive care of women/birthing people and their families.

 

·         To provide evidenced, non-biased infant feeding support to women/birthing people and their families within the maternity service, that is respectful of women’s/birthing people informed feeding choices.

 

·         To work in a manner that provides a welcoming, safe, and friendly space for women/birthing people and their families, that protects the mother and newborn relationship.
