We are working towards  an  improved service for our team. 

Main duties of the job

• Professional leadership and clinical responsibilities

•Provide professional leadership, advice and guidance to nursing staff

• Implement innovative methods of service delivery to provide better patient care, and improve patient access.

• Participate in the development of clinical policies.

 • Ensure the safe and effective use of all medical devices used within the Ward

• Work within the multi-disciplinary teams.

 • Participate in projects that facilitate the development of best nursing practice to ensure quality patient care.

• Participate in the provision of clinical supervision for nursing staff within the trust.

• Participate in the provision of preceptorship and mentorship for new staff, and for staff undertaking academic courses and pathways.

• Setting, achieving and monitoring Quality Standards.

• Ensure the delivery of clinical governance and ensuring that the aims of clinical effectiveness are met from a nursing viewpoint.

• Implement the agreed system of nursing audits.

• Work within the guidelines and standards set by the NMC, and abide by Trust Policies and Procedures. The post holder will ensure compliance with the Trust’s Risk Management Policies and Procedures. These describe the Trust’s commitment to risk management, the recognition that our aim is to protect patients, staff and visitors from harm, and stress that all staff have a responsibility to minimise risk

 • Provide advice and act as a resource to other departments within the Trust.

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse Degree in Nursing or working towards degree or equivalent Preparation of mentors or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience at Band 6 within specialty Evidence of facilitating learning in practice Evidence of on-going personal + professional development

Clinical skills and experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years’ experience at Band 6 in a hospital setting. Resolving user concerns effectively. Continuous quality improvement. Experience in managing change. Expert clinical skills Communication skills Facilitation skills Staff development and empowerment. Negotiating and influencing skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Health and safety 5 years post registration experience in a variety of acute clinical settings. Some experience in budget management

Personal/professional attributes

Essential criteria
