Main duties of the job

·      

Working autonomously whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assessing and managing a caseload of patients within the Rheumatology department.  Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.

·       To review patients routinely, assessing disease activity, reviewing medication management, monitoring test results and administration of treatments.

·       Education, counselling and support of patients, carers, relatives.

·       To act as a role model of expert clinical practice.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 3 year post RGN qualification Degree in Nursing or working towards degree or equivalent Preparation of mentors
Desirable criteria
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber/working towards/interest in obtaining prescribing qualification Xray requesting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation. Excellent communication skills. Approachable & polite IT skills e.g., word, excel, outlook and hospital database experience. Budget management skills Ability to plan and prioritise own and others workload Evidence of ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to plan and prioritise own and others workload when under pressure. Able to critically analyse and apply research to the clinical setting. Accurate documentation
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working Rheumatology patients. Experience of working with an electronic patient record and other basic IT systems. Clinical supervision experience Project management, knowledge & skills Ability to manage databases Ability to recognize the contribution of members of the MDT
