Technical Administrator

Band 3

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join our friendly and dynamic team at KM CAT (Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology).  We provide a multi-disciplinary Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) service in Kent and Medway. The caseload is primarily adults with complex disabilities who have communication difficulties

We are looking for a highly skilled, positive-minded, trustworthy, and enthusiastic Administrator with a flexible approach to join our multi-disciplinary team, ensuring a first class service is delivered to our service users.

Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) Service is a specialised Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) service covering Kent and Medway. The service is delivered in partnership with Kent Community health Foundation Trust (KCHFT), East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) and Kent County Council (KCC).

The service provides highly specialised advice and solutions on communication needs to clients with severe disabilities and complex needs.  The disabilities encountered by many of the Service’s clients impact significantly on their independence, ability to communicate, to access education or work, and to their general well-being.

The service is comprised of two teams. The Children and Young People (CYP) team is based in Ashford and the Adult Team is based in Canterbury. This post is based with the Adult Team.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide comprehensive, efficient and effective administrative, secretarial and basic technical support to the work of KM CAT, as well as other duties associated with the Medical Physics Department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

You will need to be able to work well under pressure, have good time management skills, and provide a friendly, professional, seamless and compassionate service to our service users.

You will be required to have good organisational and communication skills, along with MS Office and IT knowledge.  You will be a team player and work collaboratively with all disciplines whilst maintaining high standards and a sense of humour.  Experience of working within an admin role is essential.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five
hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
