Interventional Radiology Consultant-Specialism in Stroke Thrombectomy

Consultant

Job overview

The Kent Interventional Radiology Centre, a purpose-built unit at the Kent and Canterbury site, fitted with the latest Siemens Artis Pheno angiography system with robotic assistance, full anaesthetic facilities and a dedicated 6-bedded Day Case Unit opened in May 2022. The unit supports the regional reconfiguration of Vascular services.

It runs alongside a hybrid Endovascular Theatre which has been fully refurbished and updated with a Siemens Artis system. The Trust plans to open a third imaging suite, fitted with a Siemens Icono unit, by June 2024 in order to support the delivery of the regional Stroke Thrombectomy service.

The Radiology department is a large and successful department with 5 CT scanners and 5 MRI scanners with mobile MRI and CT increasing capacity further. The Trust has recently introduced two SPECT/CT units in Nuclear Medicine.

Main duties of the job

This post is for an Interventional Radiologist with specialised training in Stroke Thrombectomy. The successful candidate should be able to independently perform mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel
