Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacy technician or scientist to join our friendly and dynamic team to provide high quality of Quality Assurance within the pharmacy department .

You will be part also be part of the wider pharmacy team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focus service.

Main duties of the job

·         The post holder will be specifically responsible for the management of the pharmacy quality system for the Pharmacy Department.

·         The post-holder will support the Quality Assurance Lead in promoting and facilitating the development of an effective Quality system, risk management, assurance and compliance management across the Pharmacy department

              The day to day organisation and supervision of pharmacy Quality Assurance services under the direction of the Quality Assurance Lead

   Support the QC officer and the QA technician in planning, prioritising of workload and task allocation and QA/QC training

  • Experience of investigating incidents including creating timelines and supporting fact finding / root cause analysis meetings.
  • Experience with leading patient safety investigations
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines, setting priorities and dealing with a varied workload
  • Experience of writing investigation reports
  • Ability to work on own initiative and make independent decisions
  • Experience of reviewing and improving systems within an NHS organisation
  • Organisational, prioritisation, time management, personal effectiveness, analytical and problem-solving skills of a consistently high standard
  • maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, presentations) and interpersonal skills essential to exchange highly complex information to colleagues, patients and relatives, clinicians and senior managers (both within and outside the Trust)

  • Computing skills to include a working knowledge of Aseptics and Pharmacy / Trust IT systems (e.g. QPulse/JAC / Ascribe, Datix, PAS etc.).
  • Demonstrable proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Power Point, Word, Access and Excel and patient information systems, intranets and the internet.
  • Ability to deal with significantly distressing situations and complaints from patients, managers and other Pharmacy Aseptic dispensing service stakeholders. Excellent customer care skills.
  • Good Manufacturing Practice [GMP], Orange Guide, Farwell Report,
  • Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation.
  • National Aseptic Services guidelines.
  • Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency [MHRA] and licensing guidelines and standards
  • The audit process, internal and external
  • Btec in Pharmaceutical science and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, Science degree or Science manufacturing technician (SMT) qualification
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical ( GPhC ) or Science Council
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development through a combination of long and short courses and study days to obtain knowledge of Pharmacy Technical Services plus knowledge of how to deal with a range of non-routine activities including answering queries and progress chasing
