The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity becoming a member of the expanding interventional radiology team within the brand-new Kent Interventional Radiology Centre being built at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Presenting the exciting opportunity of being part of the establishment of a Centre of Excellence.
Under supervision the post holder will be part of a dynamic Multidisciplinary team aiding in the provision of a high standard of patient care within the Kent Interventional Radiology Centre. Participating in Theatre and Day case unit work, as directed by Senior Staff.
After appropriate training you will assist the trained theatre staff in delivering direct patient care within the operating theatre by undertaking the role of the circulating practitioner during surgical procedures. Where appropriate you will be trained to work in the Day case unit area assisting in the recovery of patients pre and post procedural care.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include packing and unpacking the instrument trolleys. Tracking equipment using a scanning device attached to the h-trac operating system. providing a patient transportation services within the KIRC, collecting and returning patients from and to other wards and departments.

Essential criteria
- A good level of general education
Desirable criteria
- A willingness to undertake Care Certificate/ Apprenticeship Level 2 in Health & Safety Care
Experience
Essential criteria
- In Good health – Pass occupational health screening
- Ability to undertake moderate physical effort safely.
- Previous experience is not essential although some exposure/involvement in a care setting is desirable. In house training will be provided.
Skills
Essential criteria
- The ability to converse at ease with service users and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
- Team player
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team as well as patients and their relatives.
- Adhere to the Moving and Handling policy
- IT Literate, or acquire relevant skills within one year into post
- Welcoming and directing patients to relevant areas
Desirable criteria
- Basic Life Support
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- The post holder will develop the skills through unit competencies required to fulfil the whole range of duties of the post.
- Literate and numerate, able to perform tasks to a high standard under supervision
- Ability to follow written & verbal instructions and able to cope in demanding situations.
- Ability to understand own limitations and seek more senior assistance where required.
- Ability to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team
