Job overview

The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity of becoming a member of the expanding interventional radiology team within the brand new Kent Interventional Radiology Centre being built at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, presenting the exciting opportunity of being part of the establishment of a Centre of Excellence, working within a state-of-the-art innovation and education centre.

Supporting the theatre co-ordinator and senior practitioners with professional accountability for patient safety and effective care with a particular focus on the strategic priorities of handover of care, preventable venous thromboembolic events, medication errors, catheter associated UTIs, falls with harm, pressure ulcers, sepsis Never Event’s with associated near miss.

Demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process. They will work collaboratively within the Interventional Radiology team to meet the needs of the service,  and will play a key role in service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures. Provide and assure safe care to patients and service users and maintain a safe environment for all according to local and national standards.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide effective patient care whilst working as a member of the Kent Interventional Radiology team across East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be responsible as a member of the team for the maintenance of a high standard of patient care, working with the team to ensure that IR theatres and day care unit are utilised efficiently and effectively. 

The post holder will support an effective workplace culture within Interventional Radiology and the organisation to sustain person-centred, safe and effective care through self-awareness, leadership, active learning, development, improvement and innovation.

Contributing to training and development needs of the multi-disciplinary team. 

Required to deputise in the absence of senior practitioner and ensure a positive patient experience through the delivery of high standards of patient care.

Newly registered staffs are required by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority to undertake a period of Preceptorship. The main aim of preceptorship is to welcome and integrate newly registered professionals into their new team and place of work
