Job overview

We are looking for an organised individual who will play a fundamental part of the team helping to support the clinicians within the Therapies department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Working for East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust admin Therapy team will give you opportunity to:

  • Work alongside various in-patient Therapy teams and gain an understanding of their role.
  • Develop the administrative role within the Therapy department, working with the Ops manager.
  • Support the clinical teams which will enable them to focus on their clinical role.
  • Support service improvements within Therapies.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft packages, keyboard skills RSA level 2 or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate clearly – written and verbal
  • Accuracy – pays attention to detail Ability to work unsupervised and prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of customer service
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to use Trust computerised systems
  • To develop new skills and contribute to the improvement of the service provided

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a busy admin environment.
  • Experience of formal minute taking, diary management and customer facing roles
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS
  • Working in and for a team

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Confident, assertive, reliable and responsible.
  • Polite, respectful and friendly. Calm, sensitive and empathic disposition.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Able to use and take initiative to seek additional work to assist the team as a whole (e.g. team administration tasks, being the first point of contact for patients, families and other health professionals, assisting in the maintenance of service equipment).

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good level of education including Maths and English qualifications GCSE or equivalent
  • RSA / NVQ 2 or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Willing to learn and work towards further administrative qualifications.
  • Business administration or customer services NVQ

Other

Essential criteria
  • To be aware of and adhere to the Trust’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Desirable criteria
  • Able to travel around East Kent, and between Trust hospital sites
