Locum Consultant Urologist -Renal Laparoscopy/Robotic Surgery Interest

Consultant

Job overview

The Urology department is delighted to offer an appointment for a urological surgeon with an interest in renal and upper tract cancer surgery. We have developed a regional centre of cancer care, serving a large population. Our robotic service is well established since 2011 and provides pelvic and upper tract cancer and benign complex surgery. Currently we provide a high volume robotic partial nephrectomy service and therefore wish to expand the department. We are extremely fortunate to have both vascular and renal dialysis units on-site at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, where the Da Vinci X robot is based.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a young team of consultants. Previous evidence of experience in laparoscopic or robotic upper tract surgery is essential, however we are keen to develop our team and support expansion of the service. We promote participation in clinical trials and will support a colleague interested in education. The consultant on-call rota is 1 in 11 with full middle grade cover 24-7.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five
hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’.

We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

We’re on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there’s never been a better time to join us.
