Role specific duties
The post-holder would be expected to cover the Urology and Vascular wards as well as supporting the emergency department and assisting in theatres. The post-holder will need to be an organised and motivated individual, and be able to work as part of a team.
Main duties of the job
-
The successful candidate will need to manage day to day treatment of admitted surgical inpatients, including requesting investigations and providing pre and post-operative care.
The post holder will be required to assist during surgical procedures, clinical examinations and take part in departmental teaching and audits.
The nature of this post means that the post-holder will need to have a flexible approach to their clinical sessions and on-calls, be a team player and able to adapt to changes in the working environment are desirable. Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration
- Shall have completed at least two years postgraduate training, at least one of which will be in a relevant training programme, or shall have equivalent experience and competencies
Desirable criteria
- Possession of primary or final specialty qualification
- Postgraduate qualification
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Possesses range of clinical knowledge, skills and information technology expertise.
- Concerned to maintain and develop this knowledge.
- Displays sound professional judgement Sees patients within a holistic context
Desirable criteria
- In depth expertise in at least one field within the specialty
- Have completed APLS/EPLS provider course.
Clinical Governance
Essential criteria
- Participates in regular clinical governance activity with evidence of annual audit project or quality improvement activity Understands principles and concepts of clinical governance
