Job Summary

We need an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Band 6 Dietitian.This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the friendly Nutrition & Dietetics Department for Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. The post will involve providing a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics service in the acute setting, including medical and surgical wards, out-patient clinics, clinics in General Practice and staff education programmes.  You will be actively involved in supporting Band 5 Dietitians, Dietetic Support Workers and clinical placements of student Dietitians. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, confident and highly motivated individual to this post.   This is a role for a Dietitian looking to move in to their first senior role and develop skills within the field of complex nutrition support in acute adult medicine, surgery and HDU.

Posts based at the Queen Mary’s site will receive 15% outer London allowance and 5% fringe allowance for posts based at Darent Valley Hospital on top of basic salary

Education/Professional Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian by HCPC
  • Minimum of 18 months post-graduate experience in general Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate clinical education
  • Trained in facilitated learning for undergraduate placements
  • Motivated to maintain continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • BDA membership
  • membership of a BDA interest group

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to work safely and effectively without direct supervision but with senior staff guidance
  • Able to plan workload and supervise assistants and students
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Adequate communication skills-both verbal and written
  • Basic I.T skills
  • Ability to teach effectively
  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of clinical audit

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Use of protocols and care pathways for specific interventions and conditions
  • 1-2 years general dietetic experience including, PN, complex nutrition support patients and multi-disciplinary team working

  • Decision making in gastrostomy placement
