The post holder is primarily responsible for generation of Chemotherapy and supportive medication orders to maintain sufficient supply and accurate dispensing of prescribed items.

You will have opportunities to help implement numerous quality improvement projects. Supported to develop and encouraged to come up with innovative ways to improve our patients’ care and experience in sustainable ways.

Ability to work in a busy environment, prioritise work and meet deadlines

The post will be based at the pharmacy department Darent Valley Hospital, and we are looking for a person, whom is willing to seek and find new solutions to problems and ability to plan and prioritise work effectively to meet deadlines.

Candidates must be enthusiastic, innovative, and able to communicate ideas clearly and effectively. You must possess good IT skills.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder has responsibility to support the Principal Pharmacist and Principal Pharmacy Technician for Virtual Wards (VW) in delivering Medicines Optimisation services to patients across all pathways within the Virtual Hospital (VH)

 

Plan, supervise and prioritise the Virtual Hospital workload within the Dispensary

 

Manage the Pharmacy Tracker system for all Virtual Ward prescriptions

 

To reduce medicines wastage by the operational provision of a safe and efficient patient own drug (POD) re-use scheme if required.

Participate in the general running of the department undertaking a full range of duties of a senior pharmacy assistant.

Assists the Lead Technician with administrative duties and ensuring correct stock levels are maintained including accurate and timely replenishment of pharmacy & ward stock.

The post holder will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays. The post holder will be responsible for prioritising their own workload; they will be required to work accurately whilst under pressure.
