Sonographer

Band 7-8a

Job overview

The Radiology Directorate has an extensive range of modalities including CT, MRI, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, interventional and cardiac angiography, general and fluoroscopic radiography, with ultrasound currently performed across  two sites, Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Marys Hospital. From spring 2025 an ultrasound service will also be provided at the newly commissioned Livingstone Community Diagnostic Centre, Dartford.

We are looking for HCPC registered or equivalent, highly motivated professionals, with good leadership skills and commitment to ongoing service improvement and development to join our friendly but forward thinking department. Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated advanced practice sonographers prepared to work flexibly within the department and cross site in order to deliver a range of examinations.

You must possess a Diploma in medical ultrasound. Vascular and MSK training would be an advantage.
Applications are also invited from sonographers who hold the Post Graduate Certificate in Ultrasound for Obs/gynae, Gen Med or MSK. Post Graduate training would be positively encouraged and supported.  Nuchal accreditation is desirable.

Regular CPD sessions are allocated.
The department offers extended day working and rotational Saturdays and Sundays with time off in lieu as part of core hours.

Working days and or shift patterns will be agreed by the line manager to meet the needs of the service and part time hours would be considered.

Main duties of the job

As a highly trained and experienced sonographer you will be expected to  work autonomously within a busy ultrasound department performing a wide range of examinations and to work as part of the ultrasound team to deliver the ultrasound service over 7days across multiple sites.
